We took a field trip to the park the other day. It was the most fun we have had together in a while with no distractions, just us. We started out in the play ground and let the kids just run and play and make new friends. I love watching them invent new games and imagine they are apart of a story as they play.
This particular park we were at is fairly large with paths and trails and lakes. So we decided when we were done playing to go for a walk. And then our "walk" turned into an adventurous hike! We found a beach to play on where we got to see a blue tailed lizard, we found some pretty wooden bridges to cross, looked at fish, watched some butterflies ( which one landed on me and the kids thought that was really cool) and our big discovery was finding crab apples. The kids had never seen them before so they became a fun learning tool on how God makes different way for trees to produce their seeds. After that we found a nice picnic place in the shade and they put together a puppet show for me out of sticks and leaves. Then we ended our wonderful hike by climbing a huge hill!
This is why I love homeschooling. To get to spend time with my children and show them the wonderful things God has made and given us in this life and be able to share with them in the learning experience.
